How to Connect Authentically Through Your Brand

Happy Monday TRIBE,

Last week melted my heart. Every phone call, text message, love note on social media, surprise visits and nights on the town to celebrate my birthday reminded me that love + community exist in a big way. To say that I am #blessed is an understatement and does not properly define my appreciation for the people in my life. I guess you can say that I’m humbled and inspired by the outpouring of love.

“There is nothing I want but your presence. In friendship, time dissolves.”- Rumi.

I want to introduce Marisa Romero, our next speaker for the Marketing and Get Social Workshop. She’ll be sharing all the ways we can market our businesses using creative and authentic strategies that she’s developed with clients over the years.

Hi Friends!

I wanted to jump in and give you a little pep talk on marketing tips for small businesses. Our big vision planning and operational duties sometimes overshadow our need to elevate brand messaging and reinforce our value propositions. We get so busy trying to service a client that we forget to support our own business’ needs. Here’s a little reminder of encouragement to come back to what’s important: where passion and purpose align.

Showing up in the world and seeing others show up for you is a beautiful feeling. It allows us to feel confident and supported in our everyday lives and gives us the internal power to make external choices. In business, we seek the same connection. Building a brand, defining your identity and sharing that message in an authentic way with your followers is the foundation and key to success. Our customers are seeking a brand that can deliver results in an efficient and unique way and carry that vision into the future. So how do we make ourselves stand out without losing our authentic narrative?

1. Be confident! Confidence can make or break your customers buying power. If they don’t believe in your mission or company’s ethos then they’re not going to be able to sell you to their own network. Tap into the reason why you took that leap in the first place to start your own business. What value propositions can you provide your customer, the marketplace and the ever-changing trends? Give people a reason to support you. And when they do, give them the space and opportunity to make your brand the best that it can be. There’s always room for improvement!

2. Own it! The good, the bad and the ugly. We all make mistakes. We are all human. And we can all learn from the choices we make. In relationships, personal or professional, it’s important to learn the three A’s of life- Accept, Appreciate and Acknowledge. Accept the decisions you make and for things as they are presented. Appreciate the journey, even if there are bumps in the road. Acknowledge when things don’t turn out exactly how you planned and let it unfold in its beautifully imperfect way.

3. Keep it simple but show your sparkle! We are all uniquely made of a trillion different cells and live in a huge universe of a hundred thousand million stars. When we think about it business is kind of that analogy too. We’re trying to sell a product or service in a noisy global marketplace where consumers are constantly distracted by disruptive advertisements. With the evolution of the internet, technology has also improved and consumers are highly educated on scams or dishonest marketing. So keep it simple, stupid. Be direct and show your personality. Your light will shine in in a world of chaos.

4. Build trust and keep consistency! Remember that you are also a consumer of brands and services so test your own expectations. How would you respond to someone trying to sell you something or how would they retain your business? It could take 3,4, or 5 visits to legitimize your brand but it could take one bad day where you lose your customers trust. Actions speak louder than words. Check in with your brand identity and messaging- what do you stand for and how do you hold onto consistency? Every person experiences things differently, so find strategies to connect with your customers one on one, through your online presence and how you can leave a positive imprint in their mind.

Reviewing this list of brand values will allow your business to evolve and grow. If this speaks to you and you feel inspired to re-energize your marketing plan, join us on March 18th!

Xo,

Marisa
